Cateura Orchestra

Cateura Orchestra

November 26, 2024 by Janos Mate

The Recycled Orchestra of Cateura is a remarkable group of young musicians from Asunción, Paraguay. These talented individuals hail from a community surrounding the Cateura landfill, one of the largest in the country. Through the power of music, they've transformed adversity into artistry, creating instruments from discarded materials.

Instruments Beyond Borders' Impact

Instruments Beyond Borders (IBB) has been a vital supporter of the Recycled Orchestra. Over the years, IBB has provided over $80,000 in funding, which has been used to:

·       Build a music school: A dedicated space for learning and practicing.

·       Provide essential supplies: Supporting students' education with books, clothing, and other necessities.

·       Fund scholarships: Enabling talented young musicians to pursue higher education.

Thanks to IBB's support, these children, who might otherwise be forced to work in the landfill, are given the opportunity to dream, learn, and grow through music.
